MPA Fellows, Class of 2024

Pride Coordinator, Triangle Community Center

After careers on Wall Street and most recently as a paralegal/office manager for a boutique law firm while also volunteering for several nonprofits, Karen decided that she was happiest in her nonprofit work, and it was time to leave the corporate world. She enrolled in UConn’s Encore!Connecticut program while also beginning the Nonprofit Management Certificate, and parlayed her Encore internship into a development and event planning role at Triangle Community Center, an LGBTQ+ center which provides mental health, case management services, a food pantry, and a clothing bank to those in need. She continues to volunteer as a Girl Scout leader and is the President Elect of the Junior League of Greenwich. Karen is married and has two daughters, a high school sophomore and a 23 year old UConn School of Engineering alum. This past summer, she and her family took a month long vacation through Europe — the trip of a lifetime. In her spare time she reads, has started going to concerts again, and is excited to be planning the return of her annual Halloween block party after a hiatus.
