Dr. Patricia Nickel
Patricia Nickel is an Adjunct Research Fellow in the School of Social and Cultural Studies at Victoria University of Wellington where she leads the Migration, Health, and Governing research programme. This research investigates the broad topic of migration, health, and governing through examination of the empirical practices associated with the migrant medical exam.
Patricia was previously tenured Associate Professor of Government and International Affairs and Affiliate Faculty in the Alliance for Social, Political, Ethical, and Cultural Thought (ASPECT) at Virginia Tech and served as Program Director of the Policy + System Change Network in the Center for Public Health Practice in the Colorado School of Public Health. Her research has appeared in Frontiers in Public Health, Public Health Reports, PS: Political Science & Politics, VOLUNTAS: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations, Cultural Politics, Current Sociology, Sociology Compass, Administration and Society, and American Behavioral Scientist.
