Adriana is a Master of Public Policy student serving as a Research Assistant for The Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy (IMRP) at UConn. Adriana was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and raised in Springfield, MA. She graduated in 2021 from the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst with a Bachelor’s in Informatics and a Concentration in Data Science. Adriana also received a Certificate in Criminology and The Criminal Justice System from the UMass School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Adriana has spent the last three years interning, contracting, and eventually working full time with MassMutual Life Insurance Company. She has experience in cyber security, data protection, information governance, and privacy. Adriana is currently a Business Intelligence Developer with MassMutual where she focuses on building visual stories using behavioral data to support the enhancement of digital customer experiences.

Along with her passion for data, Adriana is also passionate about building the next generation of leaders and volunteers her time to empower Latinas, young girls, and students of color. Adriana has been a speaker, event volunteer, and most recently, a research data analyst for the Latinas and Power Corporation. Latinas and Power is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire, motivate, encourage and enable Latinas to succeed and become leaders. Adriana developed and executed on the data analysis methodology for the Latinas and Power report titled “The Latina Pathway to Excellence in a Post-Pandemic World,” a career and professional report released in March of 2022. Since then, Adriana has partnered with the organization to strategize programmatic initiatives and ideate curriculum content for the Latinas in Leadership Institute. Adriana has also volunteered as a Learning Facilitator with Girls Who Code starting two clubs within the Springfield Public Schools District in 2017 and 2018.

Adriana has special interests in the intersection between policy, technology, data, and ethics. With her experience in technology and passion for social justice and equity, Adriana hopes to leverage her MPP to influence the development of policies to protect children and marginalized groups from harmful technology and unethical data practices.
