Policy and Community Engagement Liaison, CT LEAD

Camilo Lemos is a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Public Administration from UConn’s School of Public Policy. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2018 from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. Deciding to remain in Connecticut, Camilo has worked as a Committee Clerk for the State’s Planning and Development Committee, and has worked in several municipal and state campaigns across various towns and states.

In 2022, Camilo became the Community Engagement Manager for Stamford Excellence, a charter school in Stamford, and successfully advocated for both an expansion charter in Norwalk, and for the school to become the state’s first charter school to be awarded the National Blue-Ribbon. After successfully building student enrichment programs and raising school KPI’s, he found his current position as the Policy and Community Engagement Liaison for CT LEAD, an advocacy organization with several centers throughout the state. There, he focuses on building civic and community engagement, performing legislative research and policy analysis for North Star Fellows, school operation and leadership optimization, and program implementation and management for over 20,000 enrolled members.

Camilo’s passion is in finding equitable solutions for all stakeholders in a community while ensuring community justice, and service while empowering for all. He is excited and honored to have been selected as a UConn Stamford Executive Fellow and to continue his journey in public service.
