Carease M. Gadson

MPA (Fellows), 2019

Revenue Agent, Connecticut Department of Revenue Services

Carease began her career as a paralegal, working initially for a general practice firm and subsequently as a bankruptcy paralegal for over a decade. While working full time, Carease earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Charter Oak State College. Following her paralegal career, Carease worked as a Research Staff Assistant in the Connecticut General Assembly’s Office of Legislative Research where she provided administrative and research support to legislative attorneys and analysts and authored and co-authored legislative research reports. She decided to pursue an MPA to equip herself with the skills and knowledge needed to conduct in-depth research and analyze, evaluate, and construct public policies.

Carease was drawn to the UConn MPA program by the high praises it receives from alumni with whom she worked and legislative fellows who interned at the legislature. “The faculty is lauded as responsive and attentive to student needs and the program’s national accreditation speaks volumes.”

Carease is currently a Revenue Agent with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services. In this position, she informs taxpayers of filing requirements, assists them with compliance measures, conducts research to resolve taxpayer disputes, and makes recommendations to satisfy accounts.
