Bureau Chief of Transportation, Traffic, & Parking, City of Stamford

Frank W. Petise, P.E. is the Bureau Chief of the City of Stamford’s Transportation, Traffic, & Parking Bureau. The Department is responsible for the oversight of all Transportation Projects in the City of Stamford as well as Traffic Signal Operations, Signs and Pavement Markings, City- wide Parking Operations and Enforcement. He and his team review private developments, manage transportation projects, and oversee the traffic operations of over 200 City owned signals. In recent years the department has been dramatically transformed to address the needs of the fastest growing municipality in the State of Connecticut. The Department has upgraded nearly forty percent of the 200+ traffic signals, has completed a city-wide traffic signal optimization, a Citywide Parking Study, launched Vision Zero, and continues to modernize the parking infrastructure. Additionally, we are currently designing and constructing over 50 million dollars of roadway and intersection improvement projects, have undertaken several initiatives that integrate planning, design, and improved operations to ensure maintenance of our multi-modal transportation network. Frank and his Department manage the City of Stamford’s Vision Zero Initiative, and they continue to improve safe travel for all roadway users.

Frank has over 20 years of progressively responsible engineering and managerial experience in both the private and public sectors. He has completed the UCONN T2 Center Transportation Leadership Program and the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative. Frank has served on the Board of Directors of the New England Parking Council (NEPC) since 2018 and has served on the UCONN T2 Center Advisory Board since 2016. Frank is a licensed Professional Engineer and a graduate of the University of Connecticut’s School of Engineering.
