John Walshaw is the Director of Infrastructure Services at the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services, Bureau of Information Technology Solutions (BITS). In this role, he leads statewide IT strategy, tactical planning, and modernization efforts across data centers, networks, and voice platforms. His team supports critical infrastructure for dozens of state agencies, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability for essential public services.
John has more than two decades of experience in enterprise IT, with expertise spanning cloud connectivity, cybersecurity, vendor management, mergers and acquisitions IT integration, and large-scale network architecture. He has successfully negotiated major technology contracts, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, and led teams through complex infrastructure transformations.
He is pursuing the MPA Fellows program to strengthen his leadership in public administration and deepen his ability to align technology modernization with policy outcomes that benefit residents of Connecticut.
Outside of work, John enjoys time with his family, technology and watching Formula 1 racing.
