Professional Experience
Professor Josh Steinfeld is a leader in public procurement, strategic contracting, global supply chain, and leadership teaching, research, and professional engagement. Prof. Steinfeld has taught over 50 courses in public administration curricula, delivered over 40 professional presentations, published over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries, and the book “Public-Private Stewardship: Achieving Value-for-Money in Public-Private Partnerships” (2023, Palgrave Macmillan). In his book, Prof. Steinfeld applies a case-study approach in developing the theory public-private stewardship and related concepts for practitioners to enhance value-for-money by prioritizing public values such as equity, accountability, transparency, diversity, and inclusion.
While completing a Ph.D. in Public Administration with a Concentration in Public Budget & Financial Management, Prof. Steinfeld worked at the University of Central Florida School of Public Administration during the 2015-2016 academic year as a Visiting Instructor. From 2016-2023, Prof. Steinfeld was an assistant professor of public service and taught cohorts of federal government executives in Norfolk, Virginia as part of Old Dominion University’s Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Leadership, in which he served as director of both the Public Sector Leadership and Public Procurement & Contract Management programs. In May to November 2020, Prof. Steinfeld advised the Supply Chain Task Force that supported The White House Covid-19 response team in public policy and acquisition of personal protective equipment (PPE) and vaccine distribution. Prof. Steinfeld has informed problem-solving and instituted change management practices along with strategic planning in business units across government and nonprofit organizations.
