Karen Galbo has over 25 years of experience in the corporate, foundation, and nonprofit sectors with specialized expertise in mission-driven philanthropy and corporate social responsibility.

Karen joined M&T Bank in 2022 through the merger with People’s United Bank. She currently serves as Senior Vice President, Regional Manager, for the M&T Charitable Foundation, covering a regional footprint that spans from Long Island to Maine. In her role, Karen is responsible for leading a team of Regional Program Officers and overseeing the philanthropic investment strategy of $40 million in grants and sponsorships.

Karen works collaboratively with business and community leaders to align investments to local needs and objectives, and enterprise-wide strategies that reinforce M&T’s mission and core values, including designing and executing key partnerships and signature programs, including the Amplify Fund, a $25 million supplemental grant program.

Karen is also active in the community. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford, is a Core Leadership Team member for Bridgeport Prospers – a cradle to career collective impact model under United Way of Coastal and Western CT – and serves on the Corporate Advisory Committee for St. Vincent’s Medical Center, a part of Hartford Healthcare. Karen is also a Trustee and Vice President of the Columbus Memorial Scholarship Fund, and Trustee of the John A. Klein Leadership Fund.
