Executive Assistant, Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection

Born in Norwich, Connecticut, and now residing in Groton, Kyle Thaxton graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2024 with dual degrees in History and Political Science. During his undergraduate career, Kyle was elected President of Southern’s Student Government Association, representing a student body of 8,000 students to faculty, staff, and administrative stakeholders. Notably, he contributed to the revision of the university’s Liberal Education Program (LEP) curriculum in 2023, advocated for higher education funding at the Capitol, and reformed the student budget by increasing financial support for study abroad opportunities, scholarships, student social services, and on-campus programming.

Currently serving as an Executive Assistant at the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP), Kyle supports the agency’s senior leadership team in an administrative, media, outreach, and legislative capacity. He has also helped build and manage a robust, compensated internship program at DCP, enhancing the agency’s competitiveness and ability to attract top-tier talent from state universities into public service.

Kyle is active in the Groton community and aspires to attend law school in the future. He is also a proud father to a beautiful bunny named Muffin.
