Maura Fitzgerald

Chief Marketing Officer, CT Department of Public Health


Maura Fitzgerald serves as Chief Marketing Officer for the Connecticut Department of Public Health, where she leads strategic marketing and communications initiatives across the agency’s wide array of programs. With over 25 years of experience in public and private sector marketing and crisis communications, Fitzgerald has guided Connecticut through multiple public health emergencies, including coordinating statewide messaging during the COVID-19 pandemic. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Goodwin University. Prior to her current role, Fitzgerald was Senior Vice President at McDowell Communications Group, where she specialized in strategic communications, public relations, and media strategy. Her extensive career also includes roles as Deputy State Director for U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Director of Communications for Blumenthal’s 2010 Senate campaign, and various communications positions in Connecticut state government. She currently serves on the South Windsor Town Council and as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Leadership Greater Hartford.
