Shalinique Lake is a public service professional dedicated to community engagement, accountability, and making a meaningful difference through public service. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Charter Oak State College, where she developed a strong foundation in the justice system and the role of public institutions in shaping effective and equitable policy.

Shalinique currently works in the Town Clerk’s Office, where she supports essential municipal operations and the administration of public records. Through this role, she has gained valuable insight into local government processes, transparency, and the importance of accessible public service. Her professional experience has reinforced her desire to broaden her education in public policy and public administration to strengthen her impact within the public sector.

She is pursuing her graduate studies through the UConn School of Public Policy’s Executive Track MPA program, which aligns closely with her professional aspirations. The program’s emphasis on leadership, policy development, and applied learning provides the tools necessary to enhance her effectiveness as a public servant while balancing professional responsibilities. As a member of the UConn MPA cohort, Shalinique brings a perspective grounded in local government and criminal justice. She is eager to contribute to collaborative learning and apply her growing expertise to address complex public challenges. Outside of her academic and professional commitments, she enjoys traveling and is a proud sports mom to her son, Markelo, who continues to inspire her dedication to service and lifelong learning.
