Police Officer, Stamford Police Department & 643RD MP Company Commander, U.S. Army CT National Guard
From my earliest memories growing up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to my current role as a U.S. Army Company Commander, my life has been defined by a commitment to leadership, service, and a drive for constant improvement. Now, as I stand at a pivotal juncture in my career, I am inspired to pursue a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree through UCONN’s prestigious Executive Track program. This program offers me the unique opportunity to refine my skills, broaden my perspective, and ultimately amplify my impact as a leader in public service.
My journey began with my family’s immigration to the United States, where I quickly learned the importance of responsibility and perseverance. These values, coupled with a natural inclination towards leadership, have guided me throughout my academic and professional pursuits. After graduating from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in psychology, I embarked on a military career that has shaped my understanding of leadership, discipline, and the power of teamwork.
In my current role as a Company Commander, I oversee 158 Soldiers, managing complex logistics, training programs, and operational readiness. Concurrently, I serve as a police officer in the city of Stamford, where I am dedicated to upholding justice and ensuring the safety of our community. In addition, my passion for community development led me to co-found Heart & Purpose Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underserved youth through education and financial assistance.
Throughout these experiences, I’ve earned numerous awards and recognitions, but my most significant accomplishments have been witnessing the growth and development of the individuals I’ve had the privilege to lead and serve. These experiences have ignited a desire within me to expand my knowledge and capabilities in the field of public administration, enabling me to effect change on a larger scale.
UCONN’s Executive Track MPA program aligns perfectly with my aspirations. The curriculum’s emphasis on executive leadership, public policy, and non-profit management directly addresses the skills I want to further develop. The program’s flexible format and convenient location in Stamford make it an ideal fit for my demanding schedule, and the esteemed faculty and NASPAA accreditation ensure a rigorous and relevant educational experience.
As a member of the UCONN MPA cohort, I am eager to contribute my unique perspective as a military leader, law enforcement officer, and non-profit executive. I am confident that my strong work ethic, resilience, and dedication to lifelong learning will make me a valuable asset to the program and my future colleagues.
Upon completion of the MPA program, I envision myself assuming greater leadership roles within the public sector, leveraging my enhanced knowledge and skills to address complex challenges and drive positive change. Whether I continue my service in the military, law enforcement, or transition into a new public service role, I am committed to utilizing my talents and experiences to create a more just and equitable society.
