John J. “Jamie” Kalamarides is nonresident fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center and focuses on retirement, employee benefits, and financial wellness.
Previously, Kalamarides held several executive roles at Prudential Financial, including President of Group Insurance, Head of Retirement Solutions, CEO of Prudential Bank & Trust, FSB, and Director of Prudential Retirement Annuity and Insurance Company.
Kalamarides served as a key expert to the 2019 SECURE Act, testifying before the U.S. Senate Finance, HELP, and Aging Committees about the benefits and policy needs to enable multiple employer plans and lifetime income solutions. While working at Prudential, Kalamarides sponsored the pilot program for workplace emergency savings within a 401 (k) plan that served as a model for the 2022 SECURE 2.0 Act.
His work at BPC focuses on expanding coverage and improving outcomes for retirement and workplace benefits. In this effort, Kalamarides provides expert support to the American Savings Education Council. He has recently been focusing on creating a sustainable, universal solution for paid family medical leave through public-private partnerships.
Kalamarides currently serves as the Chairman of the Connecticut Catholic Foundation – a community foundation serving the needs of three Connecticut counties. He is also the CEO of Bear North LLC, a management consulting firm.
Kalamarides and his wife have five children and live outside Hartford, CT. Kalamarides holds a A.B. from Colgate University and MBA with High Honors from The Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
