What are the MPA, MPP and MASR?

Each of our degrees are interested in advancing the common good through policies and programs.

  • Master of Public Administration (MPA) focuses on the leadership and management skills necessary to implement policies and programs.
  • Master of Public Policy (MPP) focuses on the analytic and quantitative skills necessary to design, analyze and evaluate policies and programs.
  • Master of Arts in Survey Research (MASR) focuses on the innovative skills and instruments necessary to create and manage policy and program data.

How Does the Fast-Track Work?

  • In consultation with their Fast-Track Advisor, students select coursework that meets programmatic requirements and fits their schedule.
  • Fast-Tracks can take up to four PP graduate-level courses a semester at no additional cost to their undergraduate tuition.
  • PP graduate-level courses can be used towards the 120-credits needed to complete a bachelor's degree.
  • Students can apply as early as their sophomore year, with students taking coursework once they reach junior standing.

When are courses offered?

  • MPA and MPP coursework is offered in Storrs and Hartford once a week. Hartford coursework is offered from 4:00 - 6:30pm or 6:30pm - 9:00pm. Storrs coursework is offered from 5:00 - 7:30pm.
  • MASR coursework is offered asynchronously and online. Students can complete their coursework when it fits their schedule as long as they meet pre-determined deadlines.
