Your Learning Experience
Learning at UConn Hartford
The School of Public Policy is housed at UConn’s vibrant downtown Hartford campus. Dedicated in 2017, UConn Hartford breathed new life into the city’s landmark Hartford Times Building, which formerly housed the state’s original flagship newspaper. Four presidents—Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson—have spoken from the steps of the building’s portico, which the University has preserved for the next generation of leaders.
Today, UConn Hartford is a hub of government and nonprofit learning and action, situated just 500 feet from the doors of Hartford City Hall. Our students learn and gain hands-on experience in this vibrant capital city, which is also home to the State Legislature, state agencies, and about 2,500 major nonprofit organizations.
Learning Online
The School’s online approach to learning allows you to work at your own pace and on your own time, at home or at the office. Our online platform creates a highly interactive, collaborative experience by facilitating feedback and interaction between students, their instructors, and their peers. Our online learners have time to think and edit before they post, allowing individuals who may be reluctant to talk in a traditional classroom setting feel more comfortable to contribute their ideas. UConn’s online course structure encourages a strong community of learners and faculty to evolve and collaborate in each class.
