Brandon Young

Legislative & Policy Specialist, Office of the State Comptroller

Brandon Young is a Legislative & Policy Specialist at the Connecticut Office of the State Comptroller. In this position, he leverages data analytics, GIS, and programming to provide informed insights surrounding healthcare, pensions, budget management, and state/federal legislation. Brandon played the leading role in conducting Connecticut’s first comprehensive census of firefighters which has led to substantive and ongoing reforms to improve recruitment and retention. In addition to these duties, Brandon also staffs working groups surrounding healthcare reforms, first responders, and property taxes and administers a subsidy program to help paraeducators afford their health insurance.

Before his role at the Office of the State Comptroller, Brandon graduated summa cum laude with Honors in the Arts and Sciences with a BS in Political Science and a double minor in Chinese and History from The Ohio State University in 2023. Brandon is excited to continue his educational journey as an MPA Fellow with the University of Connecticut and the new opportunities it will open. He is eager to learn essential leadership skills, new ways to approach complex policy issues, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

Outside of work, Brandon enjoys bowling competitively in his free time. He is also an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Ohio State Buckeyes, and UConn Huskies fan!
