Heidy Coronel is a communications and public engagement professional dedicated to making planning, policy, and public systems more accessible. Her upbringing instilled in her the importance of culture, connection, and collective responsibility.

That foundation led her to Clark University, where she earned her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Geography, fueling her passion for understanding how people, place, and power shape communities.

Today, she supports regional planning across 19 municipalities in west-central Connecticut, as part of the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments. Her work focuses on building effective outreach strategies, coordinating public meetings, and translating complex planning initiatives into information residents can trust and act on.

Outside of work, Heidy is a dedicated community advocate and an active board member of the Latino Scholarship Fund, Inc. In this role, she supports the organization’s mission to advance access to higher education by providing scholarships to Spanish-speaking Latino high school seniors throughout Greater Danbury and Fairfield County.
