Captain, Connecticut State Police

Kate is a Captain with the Connecticut State Police and is currently the Commanding Officer of the CSP Public Information Office, DESPP Wellness Unit and serves as the Chief of Staff to the Commissioner of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.  Kate has been a State Trooper for 13 years and has worked in a variety of assignments, including Troop I-Bethany, the State Police Training Academy, and Troop H- Hartford. Kate is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session #296. Prior to joining the Connecticut State Police, Kate spent 5 years as a Connecticut Adult Probation Officer where she supervised high risk sex-offenders in the community. Kate has her BA in Spanish from UConn and spent a year in Juarez, Mexico, doing missionary work following her undergraduate graduation from UConn.

“The MPA program elevated my network of resources that now intersects the public sector, government agencies, private industries, and non-profit work.  I credit my exposure and classes on topics such as Budgeting and Finance, Human Resource Management, and Leadership Development on preparing me for promotional exams and command level roles within the Connecticut State Police. I learned not only from our professors, but also my cohort peers who shared experiences and insight into each out of Saturday class sessions.”
