Project Manager, Office of Brownfield Remediation and Development, CT Department of Economic and Community Development

Steven Perry currently serves as a Project Manager with the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of Brownfield Remediation and Development, where he manages environmental remediation and redevelopment projects across Connecticut. His work supports the cleanup and productive reuse of contaminated and underutilized properties, helping communities return challenging sites to active use.

Before joining DECD, Steven served as an Environmental Analyst with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, where he worked on open space planning and state land matters, including easements, leases, licenses, and other property interests. He previously served as an Environmental and Brownfields Planner with the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments and began his career in municipal government with the Town of Seymour. His local public service also includes prior appointment to the Town of Burlington’s Water Pollution Control Authority and Zoning Board of Appeals.

His professional background includes environmental due diligence, remedial design and implementation, comprehensive planning, land use regulations, and state and federal regulatory compliance. He believes effective planning should balance the natural and built environments while creating systems that serve both current residents and future generations.

Steven earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Connecticut and is currently pursuing certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). A lifelong Husky, he can be found in the stands at every UConn basketball game.
