Ruodan Zhang with co-author Haohan Chen at the University of Hong Kong recently published an article “Identifying Nonprofits by Scaling Mission and Activity with Word Embedding” in VOLUNTAS: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations. This research applies word embedding methods for nonprofit identification based on their mission and program service activity descriptions. She is also examining racial disparities in nonprofit volunteer retention and how human resources management practices may mitigate or exacerbate the problem.
