“Washington Is Biased Against Babies” (WSJ Op-Ed, July 26, 2018) co-authored by Dr. Raissian, Assistant Professor of Public Policy, UConn and Dr. Leonard Lopoo, Professor of Public Administration and International Affairs at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School, considers “policies encouraging underpopulation pose a long-term threat to America’s vitality.” Drs. Raissian and Lopoo address the impact, nationally and internationally, of declining populations and attempts to increase fertility. Focus is given to policies that both intentionally and unintentionally result in reduced fertility potentially working against working women who want to have children and a notable decline in America’s future workforce.
