In preparation for UConn Gives 2023, we thought we would answer a few questions about the UConn School of Public Policy’s (SPP) fundraising initiative!
What is UConn Gives?
UConn Gives is a university-wide online fundraising initiative to support UConn. It is an opportunity for UConn Nation to come together for 36 hours and transform the university, with every gift making an impact.
Has UConn Public Policy participated in UConn Gives in the past?
In 2019, the Department of Public Policy (DPP) had the highest number of donations in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences through the DPP Student Success Campaign. The DPP also had the 14th highest number of donors across the University. With 80 donations, the DPP was able to raise $3,335. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we were able to fund student professional development opportunities outside of UConn as well as student participation at NASPAA-Batten competitions.
During our 2021 campaign for student hardship we raised $26,532 thanks to the generosity of 136 donors. This exceeded the our goal of raising $5,000 and 100 donors. We ranked 7th at the University, and 1st in Dean Juli Wade’s CLAS challenges for highest number of donors and dollars.
What is the 2023 SPP fund dedicated to?
The 2023 fund is once again dedicated to student hardship. SPP hopes to raise $50,000 this year in celebration of 50 years of the MPA. Donations will directly support SPP students experiencing personal financial emergency. Your donation demonstrates that the impact of our students makes a difference.
What is the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy’s (IMRP) fund focusing on?
IMRP’s Children with Incarcerated Parents (CIP) Scholarship will support UConn students who have experienced the incarceration of a loved one. Donations will help ease the burden of college tuition costs for even more students!
How can you give and make an impact?
From 7 a.m. EST on March 8 and 7 p.m. EST on March 9 you can donate directly on our SPP and CIP pages. We will be updating this page once we have the official links. Please help share funds and become a champion for our network!
