J. Michael Keyes is a trademark trial lawyer and consumer survey expert at the international law firm of Dorsey & Whitney in Seattle. During his nearly 25 year legal career, he has represented a number of globally-renowned companies and brands in high stakes trademark and advertising disputes throughout the country including the likes of TikTok, Kraft Foods, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Hall of Fame MLB player George Brett. In addition to his extensive trial practice, Mike is also a consumer survey expert and has a Master’s Degree in Survey Research and Data Analysis (SRDA). He regularly conducts, analyzes, writes about, and lectures on consumer survey research. His LinkedIn newsletter, Lanham Act Surveys for Lawyers, provides a unique blend of insight and perspective where Mike harnesses his knowledge of the law involving admissibility of survey evidence with his consumer survey expertise. Mike is also an adjunct professor at the University of Washington School of Law where he dedicates considerable time to teaching the “next generation” of aspiring lawyers about proper survey research and design in trademark and advertising disputes. Mike and his wife Theresa have three children: a senior in college, a junior in college, and an incoming freshman in college, all at the University of Notre Dame.
