Maura Maloney serves as Operations Coordinator for the University of Connecticut’s (UConn) School of Public Policy (SPP). Learn more about Maura below!
Maura’s career was predominantly in broadcast engineering at ESPN prior to her arrival at SPP. While at ESPN she began volunteering and really enjoyed helping with home repair for local families. She notes working with Americares and Homes for Heroes as two of her favorite opportunities.
SPP became a second career for Maura after she completed Encore Connecticut. She says, “I loved being in the SPP class so much that I wanted to work here.” Maura encourages students to chose our programs because of our dedicated faculty and staff who care about the school and their students. During our conversation she also highlighted the Internship and Professional Practice (IPP) program which offers students a tuition scholarship, stipend and benefits.
Throughout her time with SPP the 50th Anniversary Gala stands out as her favorite. Maura explains, “…So many alumni attended along with current students, staff and faculty. Several people spoke about the importance of public service and how they got their start, which brought a tear to more than one eye.” For students joining our community, who will one day be alums, she reminds them that they are making a difference in people’s lives. We appreciate the impact of Maura’s work on our community!
