MPA Student Builds on Past Internship for IPP

Emely Ricci, MPA ’23

UConn School of Public Policy (SPP) Master of Public Administration (MPA) student Emely Ricci (MPA ’23) is currently completing her Internship and Professional Practice (IPP) placement with the Connecticut Land Conservation Council.

As a Sandy Breslin Conservation Fellow, Emely has inherited projects from the previous IPP Intern Sylvie Boucher. Currently she is in charge of two advancement initiatives including a roundtable talk. She is also coordinating various land trust evaluations. On a monthly basis Emely is in charge of newsletter that goes out to CT Conservation subscribers. She is also attending meetings that are centered around collaboration projects related to policy and advocacy.

In her role Emely is using a variety of communication and project planning skillsets. She is also utilizing social media and writing skillsets she obtained from her internship with the CT Trail Finder. During her 2021-2022 internship, she served as a Communications and Narrative Intern. In this capacity she managed and created content for the mapping site’s Instagram, Facebook and website. Through collaborations with recreational groups, she also helped to organize events and outings.
