Research Recap with Professor Lloyd Blanchard

Lloyd Blanchard photoInterim Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer and UConn School of Public Policy (SPP) Professor Lloyd Blanchard was promoted to Professor In-Residence earlier this year.

Lloyd continues to serve on the Executive Board of the Preschool through 20 and Workforce Information Network (P20 WIN). He assumed this role in late 2021.

According to the networks page,

P20 WIN informs sound policies and practice through the secure sharing of longitudinal data across the participating agencies to ensure that individuals successfully navigate supportive services and educational pathways into the workforce (P20 WIN).

Through aggregated data, the network aims to identify areas of improvement among education, workforce training and supportive services throughout the state.

Upon entering fiscal year 2023, Lloyd provided insight about the University to the Board of Trustees, noting the impact of COVID-19 on the budget will be greatly reduced. He also emphasized the University’s commitment to need-based and merit-based aid.

At the start of term this fall, Lloyd provided insight again to the Board of Trustees. This time he presented a study on the University’s accessibility, finding that a UConn education is “stronger” and a “better” return on investment compared to many other top public institutions. The study also noted the economic mobility that UConn provides to low- and moderate- income students.
