This course is focused on familiarizing students with the core areas of local government financial management. Topics covered include accounting and financial Reporting, budgeting, debt management, investment management, compensation and benefits, risk management, and procurement. The course features lectures, discussion, and the comments of professional experts. Readings come from the research literature and from the Government Finance Officers Association.
