Encore Connecticut Kicks-Off Fall 2023 Cohort

On Saturday, September 9th Encore Connecticut welcomed its Fall 2023 cohort to the Hartford Times Building! Their first class included an opportunity to connect with alums of the program, which has been nationally recognized for assisting corporate and public sector professionals with their transition to the nonprofit sector.

Co-leads for the fall cohort include:

  • Scott K. Wilderman serves as the President/CEO of Career Resources, Inc., which is one of the nation’s leading non-profit workforce development organizations.
  • Robert Francis retired in 2019, after serving as the Executive Director of Regional Youth Adult Social Action Partnership (RYASAP) for almost two decades. RYASAP is a youth and community leadership development coalition serving the Greater Bridgeport, CT area and the State of Connecticut.
  • David Nee currently serves as Board Member for Connecticut Center for School Change, InformCT and Connecticut Voices for Children.
  • Tom Ruderman is a human resources consultant and executive coach.

School of Public Policy (SPP) Adjunct Professor David Garvey serves as the Director of EncoreConnecticut, and Director of Partnership and Compliance at Career Resources Inc. SPP Operations Coordinator Maura Maloney facilitates program logistics. Maura is a proud EncoreConnecticut alum, and prior to the program worked successfully in human resources and technology. Both serve as programmatic points of contact for those looking towards our Spring 2024 cohort!

Consisting of 23 members, the Fall 2023 cohort includes individuals with backgrounds in:

    Their classes will focus on governance, fund development and strategy within the nonprofit sector. They will also complete a fellowship later on this semester that will allow them to develop and manage a project with a real nonprofit organization.  The format of EncoreConnecticut will allow the cohort members to seek immediate employment in the nonprofit sector, prepare for a future transition to the sector or engage in volunteering opportunities. We look forward to celebrating them on December 9th at graduation!
