Department of Public Policy (DPP) Professor and Department Head Mohamad Alkadry is currently working with DPP alumna Tara Downes and the Connecticut Council on Women and Girls to study new hire data for the State of Connecticut. This research follows up on a previous study on gender, race, and ethnic disparities in pay and representation in the State of Connecticut. Their initial study is published under the title: “…Representation and Compensation Equity Across Gender and Race-Ethnicity.”
He is also studying the effect of union representation on pay and work life balance of public employees with attention to race, ethnicity, and gender disparities. Recently Professor Alkadry completed a national public service employee survey of more than 3,200 public employees. He also just completed another survey of Qatari civil servants as part of a current study on the effect of family-friendly policies on career progress of women in the Qatari civil service. This last project is funded by the Qatar National Research Foundation (QNRF) and is part of a wider study of the status of women in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. Graduate students Daniel Zeidan, Emily Fliss, and Yara Medawar are helping him on the QNRF project.
